KAMPALA.

Premier Soccer League (PSL) club, Cape Town City FC, believe the addition of Ugandan player Allan Katerrega to their ranks will hugely improve them both domestically and on the continent.
Kateregga, 23, was officially welcomed to the South African club early in the week by head coach Benni McCarthy and superstar Teko Modise.
South African soccer legend, McCarthy, is said to have followed Kateregga, locally called ‘Dancing Rasta’ in Uganda because of his stance on the ball as his dreadlocks sway back and forth, way back from Kenya at AFC Leopards, at KCCA and during last year’s Cecafa.
“I sat with Benni and we discussed the need for a left-footed playmaker and winger that could add something unique going forward,” said former soccer star and Cape Town City FC owner John Comitis.
“There were a few options for us in the market, but once Benni saw Kateregga play he basically just simply said ‘this is the one’.”

Comitis added: “Kateregga (pic above) gives us some more ammunition in attack, while also bringing a wealth of experience in Africa ahead of our opening Caf Confederation Cup campaign.” The South Africans start their Confederation Cup campaign with a tie against Young Buffaloes of Swaziland on Feb 9-11, with the return due 20–21 the same month.

Still in contention
Cape Town City also remain in contention of the domestic league as they sit second in the PSL table, four points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, after 18 matches.
Kateregga’s journey to Cape Town City has seen him play for the now defunct Victoria University, Kenya’s Tusker and AFC Leopards, and most recently KCCA. He was at KCCA on loan from AFC Leopards.
