Mutebi does not expect ‘beauty against beast’ Uganda Cup final

KAMPALA.

Tomorrow, Vipers will try to wrestle the Stanbic Uganda Cup from rivals KCCA when the two teams meet in the final of the 44th edition at Emokori Grounds in Bukedea.
Late last month Vipers also dethroned KCCA as Uganda Premier League champions.
Apart from losing the title, KCCA manager Mike Mutebi was also not pleased with Vipers’ approach when the two teams last met with his side going down 3-2 at the St. Mary’s Stadium.
Mutebi was particularly incensed with Vipers midfielder Taddeo Lwanga for what he termed as bad tackles against Allan Okello.
“You can imagine instead of talking about the game we are talking about the beast verses the beauty,” Mutebi said light heartedly at the pre-match press conference held at Fufa House yesterday.
“But that was then. Taddeo may have had that game but he is but he is not that type of players he is a national player.
We are going to present our best team and Allan is certainly there no question about that. About his protection that goes to the referees because special players must be protected.
This time I’m not going to withdraw him because last time when I withdrew him it affected us but I was looking to the future. This is a final and I don’t want to amplify that Taddeo issue.
Vipers coach Miguel Da Costa also expressed similar sentiments as they seek to replace KCCA as the best team in the land with a first ever domestic double. “KCCA and Vipers are good teams that’s why both reached the final,” he said.
