Mutebi stops players from attending post-match party

ARUA.

KCCA players could not have imagined an after party awaited them after their ‘MTN Derby’ against Arua-based side Onduparaka at the Betway Greenlight stadium on Tuesday.
Their second half performance however seemed to suggest otherwise much to the anger of their coach Mike Mutebi as he saw his side concede late in the second half for a 1-all draw. “The result is not what we had anticipated. We played well in the first half but after leading, the players became jittery,” Mutebi said of his team’s performance. With leaders SC Villa (49 points) having lost to Vipers, KCCA had an opportunity to narrow the gap between them and the leaders to two points and with a game in hand but eventually settled for one.
“It is two points lost. We should have won the game in the first half. We didn’t manage the ball well,” added Mutebi having seen his team take the lead through former Onduparaka captain Muhammad Shaban.
“They were panicking instead of concentrating and they gave Onduparaka confidence to come in the second half to try to attack and they got the goal in the end the draw was a fair result,” he added.
Mutebi then reportedly barred his players from attending the post-match sponsors’ party, an occasion that Onduparaka enjoyed as much as their second half performance following Viane Ssekajugo’s goal.
“This is the second year we are fighting for position four or five. We are also playing a team that is representing Uganda on the continent.I give credit to Onduparaka for the result,” said Onduparaka’s technical head Leo Adraa
