KAMPALA. Proline and Mbarara City have one problem in common – a blunt attack force that threatens their league survival. As they square off this afternoon at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo, both clubs have urged their strikers to put on their scoring boots.
“I have spent the whole week working on the strikers’ sharpness infront of goal because we have missed many chances in the matches we have played so far.
“Proline plays those intricate short passes through the middle supported by the artificial turf but we are ready for everything,” says Mbarara City coach Vialli Bainomugisha.
His strikers Brian Aheebwa, Ibra Oliti, Eliaz Izukuru and Sam Katusiime have managed just two goals in four matches.
It is the same amount of goals proline, sitting 13th on the table have scored with the attacking duo of Fahd Bayo and Dan Isiagi.
“We need more goals from our attackers and there is hope that they have improved lately.
“Mbarara City play an aggressive game and never give up which makes our work well cut out,” Proline deputy coach Baker Mbowa told Daily Monitor yesterday.
At six goals, Police is the highest scoring side in the Uganda Premier League at the moment while Villa, Masavu and Maroons have only one goal to their names.
Experienced defender Ivan Bukenya is doubtful for today’s game but in Savio Kabugo, Sula Matovu, Simon Mbaziira and Sam Kintu, Proline has reliable match winners to turn to.
Mbarara City, placed 9th on the table, will miss the services of defender Hillary Mukundane who will be replaced by Asuman Alishe and Asuman Buyinza according to Bainomugisha.
There are four matches tomorrow.
