KAMPALA. The 44th edition of the Uganda Cup is Shs300m richer after Fufa and Stanbic Bank signed a one-year renewable sponsorship package at Umoja House Nakasero.

Stanbic Bank head of Marketing and Communications Daniel Ogong revealed they were lured into sponsoring the Uganda Cup because of its countrywide scope and rich history.

“The Uganda Cup allows teams from the remotest parts of the country to compete against well-established big name teams on the same stage. This promotes football development across the country,” he said.

“Our partnership is testament to confidence we have in Fufa. We are here for a long haul because we want to give out countrywide customers a chance to watch football,” he added.

Fufa President Moses Magogo said the Uganda Cup always helps Uganda Cranes players adapt to the knockout format they encounter in the qualifiers.

“We have always looked on with appetite to work with Stanbic Bank because they have been sponsoring other sports. We believe that with this volume of money, we are going to see a different kind of football.
