Vipers SC pen Shs300m deal with dfcu bank

KAMPALA. Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) side Vipers on Wednesday unveiled their third sponsor as more corporate companies continue to associate with local football.
Dfcu bank is the latest to join Hima Cement and Roofings Limited to inject cash into the Kitende-based club.

The two parties have signed a two-year partnership deal worth Shs300m, which will also see dfcu get space on Vipers shirt.

“Dfcu Bank understands the importance and impact of football in our communities and Uganda in general," dfcu Bank’s Chief of Business and Executive Director, Mr William Sekabembe, said at the unveiling of the deal at the bank's headquarters in Kampala.

"We are pleased to partner with a club that has a strong heritage and is committed to empowering communities through sports development,” he added.
Vipers president Lawrence Mulindwa said the club will always embrace football development.

"As a club we are excited to have one of the most powerful brands in the banking sector supporting us to build and grow the game of football," he said.
"Having dfcu as our banking partner is beneficial to not just Vipers, but the entire football fraternity in Uganda," Mr Mulindwa added.

This latest development further increases the value of the local league, where several clubs have at least had some corporate engagements going on.

Just before the start of this campaign, Onduparaka renewed their partnership with Betway worth Shs600m, up from Shs180m.
The West Nile side most recently added MTN on a one-year Shs390m deal.
KCCA, who are getting Shs1.29b from MTN for three years, also extended their Startimes partnership to 2021, with Shs3.2b being given in exchange for the Philip Omondi Stadium naming rights.

Prime Media too have a three-year contract with the champions from last year, with Shs750m being quoted, while Britam injected Shs1.4bn for the same period since 2016.

SC Villa also have a Shs1.5bn-year partnership deal with StarTimes, from which they receive Shs260m per season.

Lato milk and Fero mobile too are sinking Shs130m into Bright Stars, a club that recently partnered with Japanese soccer legend Keishuke Honda.
