Burying the hatchet. The New Year has brought with it great things and some of what we have to celebrate is the reunion of Chameleone and his Good Lyfe brothers

After years of bickering, fights, and controversial stories in the media, these two parties shared a stage at Queens Palace, Malaba.

The stage was a bubble of fiery performances as a jubilant Douglas Mayanja, aka, Weasel, kissed Joseph Mayanja, alias, Chameleone, shortly before their earliest duet BomboClat. Mozey Radio joined the brothers on stage and the three traded places singing each other’s music. Chameleone’s latest Wale Wale, was done over and again to the crowd’s joy. The dynamic dual sang majority of their hit songs through the years, Neera parading this new friendship which they promised to keep “again and again.”

Weasel wildly darted about the stage, put off his shirt and clung to a pole on stage before apologising to the crowd for his misbehaviour. “I apologise for undressing but, I am so happy…please forgive us for fighting with my big brother” He spoke in Luganda to a loud applause from the fans. A critique suggested that their song Nkwetagga finally yielded tangible meaning in their lives.

Prior the show, security personnel took precautionary deployment to counter an exchange either between the two crews and or among loyal fans. “You cannot have those two crews on one stage,” a security official manning an AK47 assured the proprietor of the Bar, Club and Restaurant. However, the two brothers were on talking terms all night, an unexpected turn of events that left everyone wondering what shall unravel through the night.

While the curtain raising acts including Dan Flevar, Sizzaman, Jinja’s Sandra Sanjja and the Kings Dance Crew did their thing, Chameleone, Weasel and Radio were taking rounds in their big brother’s car. At about 2am, Weasel was heard calling out to his brother as he got on stage and consequently asking urging fans “If you’re ready for my brother Jose Chameleone lemme see your hands up in the air.”

“We were very sceptical about the show,” said Nelson Odeke, a resident in Malaba who along with his girlfriend only identified as Tina came simply “to watch drama unfold once either of the two brothers refuses to perform”.

However, excitement filled Queen’s Palace when the dynamic dual hit the stage and it finally dawned on them that the brothers had reconciled, when Chameleone called out to Weasel and kept prompting the Goodlyfe throughout his performance.

Aftermath of the reconciliation
The better part of the show had these energetic artists hugging, kissing, and holding shoulders with an impeccable show of euphoric emotion. Chameleon effortlessly carried Radio on his right arm, as the latter tightly gripped his shoulder singing to Neera. “This is a very important invent and we have enjoyed doing it with our bigger brother” uttered Radio who resounded Queen’s Palace management’s note that they had seen history being made.

In response to how they ably pulled it off, Queen’s Palace Management said “We sat down with them, pitched the idea, and they said they were okay with performing together.” The hangout spot was celebrating its fifth anniversary in Malaba.
