Hugh Masekela, Isiah Katumwa jazz it up show tickets out

Tickets for the grand Jazz it up show featuring South African jazz icon Hugh Masekela and Uganda’s Isiah Katumwa are out and can be bought at Forest mall and Jinja road Airtel shops, Game Lugogo, Nakumatt oasis mall and Kampala Serena Hotel.

The May 8th event, which also doubles as Katumwa’s 20 years anniversary in jazz music, will be live at Serena Hotel for shs 150,000 and will be graced my magical performances from none other than the 76 year old Hugh Ramopolo Masekela,  a South African trumpeter, flugelhornist, cornetist, composer, and singer born in Kwa-Guqa Township, Witbank, South Africa.

Hugh is known for his songs, grazing in the grass, bring back Nelson Mandela, Bajabu Bonke, coal train/ Stimela among others.

Who is Isiah Katumwa

Isaiah Katumwa, a self-taught saxophonist, is Uganda’s Jazz pioneer, whose innovation has inspired many to embrace jazz music. Katumwa started his musical journey in primary school, at the tender age of 10.

His breakthrough album, “Sinza”, was featured on “BBC Focus on Africa”. “Tumusinza” was the biggest hit on the album because its sound appealed to many different countries. He later recorded “Coming Home”. He went ahead to produce eight albums in his 20 year musical journey.
