Kenya's Sauti Sol nominated for BET awards, Ugandan artistes shunned

Kenyan afropop music group Sauti sol has been nominated for the "prestigious" BET awards.

The group was nominated as Best International Act-Africa alongside Nigeria's Yemi Alade (Looking for Johnnie), Wiz Kid (ojeluegba), Sarkodie and Stonebwoy from Ghana, Fally Ipupa of DRC, and from South Africa Soil and rapper AK.

Speaking right before their departure to USA Tour, Sauti Sol members unanimously expressed their joy and excitement.

β€œIt’s time for Kenyan music and African entertainment to shine. Soon, we will be releasing our third album, Live and Die in Afrika.” The members said.

The BET AWARDS broadcasts live from the Nokia Theatre on Sunday, June 28 from 5:00-8:00 pm/PST

Since 2001, BET AWARDS has gathered the fiercest and finest talent from across the globe together each June to celebrate their achievements from the past year. With 7.9 million viewers last year (yet again, one of the highest rated awards shows on cable) and dominating Twitter with 11 million tweets for the night.

Meanwhile, Ugandan artists have been shunned in the BET awards nominations including the now very international Eddie Kenzo.
