He who is best prepared can best serve his moment of inspiration,” wrote English philosopher, Samuel Taylor.
Reggae music star Maddox Ssemanda Ssematimba spent much of last week in rehearsal, somewhere in Kabowa, near Kampala, in preparation for Friday’s ‘Return of the Champion live concert’.
And when he stepped on stage to entertain, proof of practice was evident as he headlined the night’s performances, holding his forte with vocal clarity that got his fans sing-along. He was in merry mood and his stage presence coupled with dance and interaction with fellow musicians on stage as well as the audience proved as much.
For two hours, he crooned away to devouring fans, cementing his dexterity at live performance thanks to a group of musicians he brought together from some of different bands.
The ensemble exhibited finesse, producing melodic sounds, both on instruments and vocal delivery that left the audience in awe, and much in appreciation for the beautiful musical delivery.
Their efforts were complemented by good sound. Producer Jude Mugerwa managed the technicalities of sound.
Maddox did 15 tracks, selected from his two albums; Tukolagane and Abato. Many fans chanted to the popular tracks that included songs like Namagembe, Omuyimbi, Irene, Let’s rock, Munakyalo, Wansonyi, and more songs that left a glee on fans faces.
In appreciation of the songs, they applauded the reggae singer who bowed in respect. He took time between music interludes to show love, thanking patrons for the support towards his career by attending the show.
