Miss Uganda Finalists Unveiled

KAMPALA: The 20 finalists that will contest for this year’s Miss Uganda crown were on Tuesday evening unveiled at Mackinon Suites in Nakasero, Kampala. This year’s contest which is running under the theme; “Promoting agricultural entrepreneurship among the youth” will hold a coronation ceremony on October 25 at Speke Resort and Country Club, Munyonyo.
Brenda Nanyonjo, CEO Kezzi Entertainment, the Miss Uganda franchise holder (and also the Miss World exclusive license holder-Uganda), said that before the regional tours, which ended over the weekend, scouts were sent across the country in search of young girls with vast knowledge in agriculture, aged between 18 to 24 years.

“On average, we had over 10 girls selected from Eastern, Northern, and Central region. We had them combined with those in the central region also vying for the crown. A screening was done and we enlisted the 20 finalists that we have unveiled tonight,” she said.

She revealed that immediately after the regional and Grand Miss Uganda Finale, the regional Queens (which will also be crowned on the Finale night) with support of the Miss Uganda Foundation, will be given tools to run their best agricultural projects within their communities.

“These finalists will participate in a three week boot-camp between October 4 and 25th at the On the Farm in Kapeeka and Serene Suites,” she said. This year’s Miss Uganda is sponsored by Mirinda, SMS One, Namukekera Rural Industrial Centre (NRIC) with support from the Uganda Peoples Defence Force (UPDF).
