The Uganda Vintage and Classic Auto Show has been confirmed for Saturday July 5. The announcement was made by the chairman of the annual event, Dr John Niwagaba at Sheraton Kampala Hotel last Thursday. This will be the third edition of the vintage car show and new changes have been announced.

“This year we will have a new event called the Snail Trail, which will take place a day to the event. The Snail Trail will be a drive through Kampala capital city by the owners of these classic and vintage cars,” Niwagaba said. He explained that unlike the past two years, this year, only cars that are 25 years and older will be eligible to participate.

The vintage show will also have participants from Concours d’Elegance, Kenya’s 44-year-old classy motor event. Some of the judges will come from organisers of the event.

Niwagaba also announced that they have also introduced more categories under which the old cars will be competing and this will be according to engine sizes. “Plus we are also introducing a special showcase of motorbikes and customised cars, particularly those that are pimped. And if you do not have a car you will be rewarded for being elegantly dressed,” the chairman of the Vintage and Classic Auto Show explained.

At the climax of the event there will be concert where some of the top artistes will entertain. Entrance to the show is Shs10, 000 per person. The competing cars will be judged by five judges, three from Alfa Romeo Club who are the organisers of the Concours d’Elegance and two from Automobile Association of Uganda.
