Daily Monitor journalists win financial reporting awards

Christine Kasemiire

Two Daily Monitor business journalists including Mr Martin Luther Oketch and Ms Christine Kasemiire have been awarded by the Uganda Bankers Association (UBA) for their outstanding financial and business reporting.

The two, together with New Vision’s Samuel Sanya were recognised for their informative financial reporting, which has had a great impact on Uganda’s business landscape.
Mr Oketch, who was being awarded for the second time in a row, was recognised for his outstanding reporting in print media while Ms Kasemiire was recognised as the best upcoming young reporter.
Ms Kasemiire, who joined Daily Monitor as an intern in 2017, has been instrumental in business and financial reporting. She was the only reporter, according to UBA chairman Patrick Mweheire, who was awarded in the upcoming category.

Speaking during the UBA annual dinner in Kampala at the weekend, Mr Mweheire said the awards sought to reward young and outstanding talent in the business sphere that has excelled in reporting about banking and the financial sector in both print and electronic media.
