Christmas don’ts

What you need to know:

  • So you have that big music system that you have been waiting to max out one of these days.

So the holiday season is here as we wind down 2018. The mood is celebratory and people are gearing up for the festivities. The following is a little list on how not to be a nuisance this Christmas.
Don’t drink too much
A little wine is good for your health but over drinking turns you into a rambling fool. Staggering to your car and fumbling for the keys to drive home is a surefire way to meet your maker this Christmas. The boys will have a lot of time this season of the year since many have broken off work. With this time, they will organize drink ups and call you countlessly to show up and blast. Exercise some caution and do not over indulge.

Don’t show up unexpectedly
While you and James are inseparable gangos, do not show up at his house unannounced for Christmas inquiring about lunch. His wife may not be too keen about this little stunt you may be planning. Tell him before hand that you wish you spend Christmas with him and his family. It is a more acceptable approach that won’t rattle anyone. While Christmas is a time to give and share, many people will not be too amused by surprises they don't know how to deal with.

Help out
You may be the big man of the house, but what your woman might not be impressed with is sitting through the entire holidays watching TV. This is especially true for Christmas day where there is quite a lot to do. Whip up a special a dish that you are good at making for your family. Or decorate the tree with the kids. Be involved so you are not perceived as that standoffish old geezer that everyone has no choice but to put up with.

Turn it down
So you have that big music system that you have been waiting to max out one of these days. You do leave with other human beings in a next door neighbour situation right. Blaring music wantonly will not improve your relationship with your neighbours. If you are a caveman living somewhere at the base of the Kilimanjaro all by yourself, by any means blare your music. You may even sing along loudly and do a little dance outside your door. But if you leave in vicinity with other human beings be a little considerate.
