Prayer is very central to my days

What you need to know:

Many hats. Lydia Amuge is an author, life coach and motivational speaker. She is passionate about service excellence, leadership, personal development and life skills. Charlotte Ninsiima had a chat with her and she shares how she spends her week.

My weeks vary depending on the tasks at hand. Between 5 to 5.30am, I spend some time in prayer because I believe I am supposed to be in the presence of God before I get into the presence of people.
There are days I have trainings and have to leave very early and be at the training venue at 6.30am. We start our day with prayer and setup our training spaces into experiential arrangements between 6.30 to 8am.
I also prepare my mindset and visualise how my day will go by. Sometimes I have keynote presentations to deliver which aren’t as tasking as the trainings.
However, I have themed days depending on the activities. Everyday, I plan most important tasks to ensure I focus on most important things first and concentrate on other things later. Tasks that will add value to the businesses.
My tasks could be about innovating a product, writing an article, a book chapter or proposals and these vary within a week. I also meet clients and I read a lot.
I read early in the morning and in the evening. I am currently reading Busy: How to Thrive in a World of Too Much by Tonny Crabble.

Marketing Monday
Together with my team, we meet for two hours and brainstorm ideas on how we are doing on the market, the number of prospects, how can we add value to ourselves in the market and ways of boosting client engagement.
At 11am, I make calls to set appointments with clients. Marketing means continuous work with potential clients.

Thank you Tuesday
At any time within the day, I take time to personally be grateful to the team I work with.
I look out for very specific qualities that make my team stand out or even a task well executed to motivate them and let them know how their contribution impacts business and the entire company.
It could be a sticky note, email, luncheon or other creative ways of saying thank you.

Wisdom Wednesday
We all do a half day fast and share the word of God. We do this to dedicate our plans, tasks and the company and all the workers in God’s hands.
We pray for our families and company’s intentions and break the fast at lunchtime.
I also go for fellowships at 6pm on Tuesdays.

Innovative Thursday
I use this day to listen to all staff who have
innovative ways to do business better and increase sales. People are given an opportunity to share something new and encourage others to be generate creative ideas that will add value to the company.

Feedback Friday
Feedback is the breakfast of champions. As a leader, it is important to get feedback from employees about general activities and clients complaints for improvement.
Whenever you do not evaluate yourself, you do not grow. I also meet friends or prospective clients.
I also spend some time with my mentor because I believe that lot of who I am and what I have become is because of mentors.
Saturday
I spend the day watching movies that add value to me. Sometimes, I train half day or attend ceremonies.

Gratitude
My day starts at 5am with gratitude and ends at 11pm with gratitude. It is a culture I have inculcated in my life because we do not pay to be alive. Every morning, I write 10 things and reasons I am grateful to God for. When you start to appreciate the small things, then you attract the big things in your life.
