Fiery KCCA back in hunt for glory

There might be only three StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) matches today but anecdotes are hardly in scarcity.
At Luzira, coaches George ‘Best’ Nsimbe and his protégé David Obua will be wary of a marauding KCCA, who are fresh from annihilating James Odoch and Nyamityobora 6-1 on Sunday. Across at Wankulukuku, traditional giants Express, newly powered by Betway, Onduparaka will want to put one past the Red Eagles and their sponsors.
Betway abruptly ended their partnership with Onduparaka at the beginning of this season without detailing the reason, but Daily Monitor understands it came down to numbers, which both parties failed to agree to.
Onduparara, under interim charge of Simeon Masaba following Asaph Mwebaze’s resignation, will want to avenge that on the pitch today. His superstar striker is ready to help the cause.
“We want to win every game and that is what we shall try to do,” said Onduparaka striker Viane Sekajugo.

Keeping track
Express coach Kefa Kisala, whose side drew 1-1 in their last outing at Kirinya-Jinja, knows that beating Onduparaka would send them to at least within two points of champions Vipers, who are not in action today. Vipers have 18 points.
“We continue to improve and all we want is to take each game by a game,” said Kisala. But it is at Luzira where KCCA arrive with a goal-raining swagger. Patrick Kaddu Timothy Awany, Allan Okello, Mike Mutyaba (brace) and Jackson Nunda were on target for coach Mike Mutebi’s rampaging boys as they thrashed Nyamityobora on Sunday, and they will hope for the fortunes to continue today. However, KCCA have not found much fun at Luzira in recent times, their last visit - then under coach Asaph Mwebaze - ending in stalemates last season.

Flying high
Today, it is Nsimbe steering the ship there although he has also not had the best of starts.
Maroons are 12th with just six points from eight matches, while KCCA are flying high on 18 and topping the table before yesterday’s round of games.
Elsewhere, bottom side Paidha Black Angels welcome fourth-placed Bright Stars (15 points) at Green Light Stadium in Arua looking for a sign.
