Kampala- The Inspector General of Police, Mr Martins Okoth-Ochola has reshuffled more than 140 senior officers in different directorates and autonomous commands such as Flying Squad and Forensic Directorate.

The outgoing police spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Emilian Kayima, confirmed the development.

“Over 140 officers have been given new roles. We pledge to serve as ever. God bless you,” SSP Kayima said yesterday.

According to police sources, the reshuffle will also affect police directors, but Mr Ochola and his deputy, Brig Sabiiti Muzeeyi, are still holding their changes until President Museveni has sanctioned them.

The source said Assistant Inspector General of Police Godfrey Bangirana, the director of logistics and engineering, will move to the Directororate of Human Resources and Administration, which was occupied by Mr Moses Balimwoyo.
Mr Balimwoyo will move to the Directorate of Police Welfare.

AIGP Lemmy Twinomugisha, who has been the director of welfare and Production, will be transferred to Special Duties as a director.

AIGP Asuman Mugenyi, the director of Operations, will replace AIGP Bangirana as the director of Logistics.

AIGP Grace Turyagumanawe is expected to bounce back to the directorate of Operations as the director. He has been director of Peace Support Operations. It will be the third time he is holding the position.

More changes
The source said AIGP Fred Yiga is expected to return to the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, where he was more than 15 years ago.

He will replace AIGP Steven Kasiima. AIGP Kasiima has been under intense pressure due to consistent attacks by President Museveni since 2014 over corruption among traffic officers.

It isn’t clear where AIGP Kasiima will be placed.
The director of Research and Planning, AIGP Edward Ochom, would also be affected by the changes, the source said.
