Buganda NRM Caucus MPs get new leaders

Members Parliament who support the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) have elected office bearers to coordinate party activities in the House.

The committee will also be tasked to lobby programmes and projects from government to benefit Buganda region and liaise with the Kabaka’s government at Mengo government to support the kingdom’s social and economic programmes.

The MPs who are attending a party retreat at Kyankwanzi National Leadership Institute (NALI) on Sunday elected Kabula County MP, Mr James Kakooza as their chairperson. He will be deputised by Ms Syda Bbumba the Nakaseke South MP.

Mr Muyanja Mbabaali (Bukoto South) is the treasurer, while Mr Kasozi Muyomba (Bukoto Mid-West) was elected as the caucus general secretary. Mr Simeo Nsubuga (Kasanda South) was voted as publicity secretary.

The MPs elected the party’s Chief Whip and Kiboga District Woman MP, Ms Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu as an Ex-Official on the Committee while Bukuya County MP, Dr Michael Bukenya Kyabikoola is a committee member.

The patron of the caucus is Mr Sam Kuteesa Kahamba, the Mawogola North MP. Mr Kuteesa is Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Minister.

 Mr Nsubuga said the leadership of Buganda Parliamentary Caucus which comprises all MPs from Buganda regardless of their political affiliations, has not been disbanded.
