Gulu Magistrate’s Court has issued criminal summons against Ntungamo Municipality MP Gerald Karuhanga, Jinja East MP Paul Mwiru and four others for failing to turn up for today’s mention of the treason case against them.

Grade One Magistrate Isaac Imoran Kintu issued the order against Karuhanga, Mwiru, Gamba Tumusime, Charles Atiku, Shaban Atiku and Wilberforce Tamale during the court session on Monday, also attended by Kyaddondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi and Arua Municipality MP Kassiano Wadri among others, over the chaos leading up to the election of the Arua Municipality MP in August this year.

However, court heard the two MPs could not attend today’s session because they were away for official duties in Burundi.

Mr Kintu tasked them to appear in the next court sitting.
He adjourned the case to January 10, 2019 when the accused are expected to appear for further mention of their case adding that he needs sometime to acquaint himself with the facts of the case since he is handling it for the first time.

The state contends that the accused and others still at large pelted stones at one of President Museveni’s car, smashing its hind windscreen on August 13 during Arua Municipality by election campaigns.
