Education and Sports minister Janet Museveni will Thursday release last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results.
The Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) on Wednesday briefed Ms Museveni on the pupils’ performance at State House Nakasero, according to Mr Patrick Muinda, Ministry of Education spokesperson.
This will be the third PLE results Ms Museveni releases since being appointed the political head of the ministry in 2016.
It will also be Mr Odongo’s third time to oversee the national examinations as Uneb executive secretary after he took over from Mr Mathew Bukenya in April, 2016.

“Uneb officials will brief the Minister of Education Janet Museveni on the performance of last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations on Wednesday January 16, 2019 at 11am and later release them on Thursday January 17, 2019 at 11am at President’s Office,” Mr Muinda said.

A total of 671,923 candidates registered to sit 2018 PLE from 13,072 centres across the country compared to 646,041 from 12, 751 in 2017.
This represents an increase of 25, 882 (3.9 per cent), according to the executive Secretary of Uganda National examinations board Dan Odongo. Of the total candidature, 476,131 were from Universal Primary Education (UPE) schools and 195,792 private.
This was also the fourth year UNEB was registering more females at 346,963 compared to 324,960 males.
