Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake arrested in Moroto

Police in Moroto district have released the Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament Mr Francis Zaake after interrogating for more than five hours.

Mr.Zake was on Friday 27th on September arrested by police over allegations that he was distributing People Power's campaigning posters and T-shirts.

Mr.Zaake however said he was touring Moroto Municipality for the first time to feel the challenges the people of Moroto and Karamoja at large are facing so that when the isues of Karamoja are brought up in parliament for debate he can also contribute and back up Karamoja Mps.

He denied having or giving out any posters or t-shirts.He was released after being questioned from the office of the district police commander Moroto on his motives of touring Moroto town while dressed in the People Power red cap.

"We traveled from Hoima this morning touring northern Uganda and we passed Lira and Abim to Moroto just to tour our country as a Ugandans but am surprised that am being arrested and questioned on what brought me to Moroto," Mr. Zake said

Mr Jude Nasucha the district police commander Moroto told Daily Monitor that they arrested Mr Zaake Francis after getting inteligence that he was distributing T-shirts and posters that had People power information to the youth.

"We checked all his car and we have got nothing like posters so we have escorted him beyond Moroto to Napak and Napak district will take him to Katakwi," He said.
