Gunmen pull client from DFCU banking hall, rob Shs10 million

Police are investigating circumstances under which a businessman was robbed of Shs10 million at gunpoint outside DFCU bank in Mbarara town.

Mr Sharif Kakooza, a resident of Mandera Cell in Kakoba Division, Mbarara Municipality, says that he had gone to deposit the money in the bank, on Wednesday evening, when two armed men approached him in the banking hall and asked to walk out.

According to Mr Kakooza, the two men found him filling deposit slips and put him at gunpoint.

 Mr Kakooza said that after surrendering the money outside the bank, he returned to the banking hall where he was advised to alert police. 

Mr Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, says Police have summoned a Saracen guard who was on duty at the bank, for questioning.

He says they intend to review the CCTV footage from the bank to aid their investigations.

DFCU bank has not yet commented on the matter as none of the officials was available.
