Heavy Rains Cut Off Major Roads in Kyegegwa
Farmers are finding a hard time to cross the river with their produce due to the damaged Nyakabiso bridge that has caused flooding in the road.

The on-going heavy rains have cut off major roads in Kyegegwa District leaving residents stranded.

The other road that has been affected connects Gasani trading centre in Kakabara Sub County to Ntutu trading centre in Kigambo Sub County which has been blocked at Kafuro River where the bridge had been constructed.
The bridge that was commissioned last month and built at a cost of 117 million shillings got blocked by trash that was being carried by running water.
Tree logs have since been put to help pedestrians cross the river while vehicles have no access at all.
The ranis have also affected farmers transporting their agricultural products to markets.
Steven Mugume, a resident of Kakabara Sub County says that the poor state of the roads was brought to the attention of the district authorities two weeks ago, but nothing has been done.
Kyegegwa Chief Administrative Officer – CAO, Stephen Oloya says that the destruction of the bridge was a natural calamity and beyond their control.
“We call every stakeholder to remain calm as everything possible within our means is being done to unblock the bridge structure and do a full restoration as soon as the situation normalizes,” Oloya says.
John Alinaitwe, a resident in the area, says that what is happening is very unfortunate and wants the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness to intervene immediately.
