Three suspects in the trial of the murder of former Police Spokesperson, Andrew Kaweesi, who were re-arrested by security after being granted bail, are out on police bond.
They are Jibril Kalyango, Yusuf Mugerwa and Yusuf Nyanzi.
They were released on Monday afternoon by the Deputy Commander of the Special Investigations Department (SID), Ely Womanya in Kireka.
Their release comes two days after Justice Henrietta Wolayo directed the Attorney General, Inspector General of Police, Martins Okoth Ochola and Womanya to produce them before her court this evening without fail and justify why they had been held beyond the mandatory 48 hours without justification.

According to the bond forms, the police have charged the suspects with belonging to a terrorist organization. Police have directed the suspects to report to SID on October 11, 2019 or else their bond will be cancelled.

The suspects who appeared weak were picked up by their lawyers and taken before Justice Wolayo of the Civil Division of High Court so as to close the application demanding for their release.
While in court, the State Attorney, Brian Musota told the judge that they have complied with the court orders and prayed that the file be closed and each party bear its own costs. The judge agreed with his plea and closed the file with orders that each party bears its own costs.

The suspects were re-arrested on September 11, 2019 by state operatives from the International Crimes Division of High Court in Kololo shortly after being granted bail by Justice Lydia Mugambe. Their families and lawyers searched for them in vain since they had been held incommunicado.
They later filed a production warrant in court on grounds that their continued detention was illegal since it is infringes on their constitutional right to liberty, which was issued last week by Justice Wolayo.

Trouble for the suspects started after the death of the former Assistant Inspector General of Police Kaweesi, his bodyguard Kenneth Erau and driver Godfrey Mambewa on March 17, 2017 in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb.

They are jointly charged with Joshua Kyambadde alias Abdurahman, Higenyi Noordin Aramathan, Bruhan Balyejusa, Shafiq Kasujja and Abdul Rashid Mbaziira.
