LC5 boss faces arrest as police impounds car

Abim. The LC5 chairperson for Abim District, Mr Jimmy Ocero, is now without a car after police in Moroto District impounded a vehicle he uses.
The vehicle, registration number UG 5498 M, was impounded on Saturday in Moroto with orders from State House Health Monitoring Unit.
Speaking to Daily Monitor at the weekend, Mr Richard Aruk Maruk, the Mt Moroto regional police commander confirmed the exercise.
“We impounded the car on Saturday, parked it at Doctors with African compound in Moroto and we are waiting for the team from State House Health Monitoring Unit to come and take it as investigations continue,” he said.
Donation
Daily Monitor learnt that the vehicle was donated by UNICEF through the Ministry of Health to Abim District for maternal health services but instead it was used by the district LC5 chairperson for his official duties.
Dr Juliana Nabatanzi, the deputy director State House Health Monitoring Unit told Daily Monitor on telephone that they instructed the police to impound the vehicle and arrest the district LC5 boss for misusing it.
Mr Ocero said he was not aware that the vehicle had been impounded since he left it with the driver as he travelled for his weekend studies in Mbale.
