LDC lecturer dies in Masaka road accident

LWENGO. A lecturer at the Law Development Centre (LDC) and former head of Registry at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), Maudah Atuzarirwe, has died in a road accident on the Mbarara-Masaka highway.
Ms Scovia Birungi, the Southern Region Traffic Police commander, the accident occurred around 5am Saturday at Kingo, Kingo Sub-county in Lwengo District.
Ms Birungi said police’s preliminary assessments blame the crash an oncoming vehicle from the opposite direction that had on full headlights which could have forced Ms Atuzarirwe to lose sight and control of her vehicle.
“It was still dark and she could have been disrupted by full lights from an oncoming vehicle and lost sight and control,” Ms Birungi said.
The deceased was driving a sliver Spacio car headed to Kampala from Bushenyi District.
Ms Atuzarirwe was traveling with two other people identified as Mr Muhammud Ssenyonjo, and Nicholas Tumusiime, who both sustained minor injuries and were taken to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital.
Meanwhile, the president of the Uganda Law Society, Mr Francis Gimara, has eulogised Atuzarirwe as an active and eminent member of the law society. “We are really crest fallen. Her death has shocked us; she was very active in the intellectual property law cluster of the society and we relied so much on her expertise to grow the industry,” Gimara said.
