Man on the run after hammering brother’s wife to death

Police in Kanungu are hunting for a 31-year-old man on murder charges after he allegedly killed his brother’s wife.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, said Obedi Turyasingura, a resident of Kahama cell, Burema parish, Kanyantorogo Sub County in Kanungu District attacked Grace Kyasimire, 26, with a hammer over unknown reasons.
Mr Maate said Turyasingura, a dealer in small core stones, hit Kyasimire on the head on Sunday at around 8.30pm before she died at a private clinic at Kihihi where she had been rushed for medical attention.
Kyasimire’s husband, Enock Agaba said: "He (Turyasingura) has been staying home with our mother and he has been doing weird things and threatening to do something.”
Mr Maate said investigations are underway to establish the motive and also arrest the suspect to face the law.
The body was taken to Kihihi Health Centre IV for postmortem.
