Soroti- The minister of state for Teso Affairs, Ms Agnes Jaff Akiror, has finally recorded a statement with the police against the two bank clients who were recently detained for five days for allegedly denying her quick access to bank services.

The regional police spokesperson East Kyoga, Mr Michael Odongo, confirmed that the minister recorded her statement on Monday, six days after the suspects were released on police bond.

Mr Mohamed Sebuya, 35, and Mr James Davis Bamwidhi, 30, both money lenders attached to Munarura Associates, who are on police bond, also reported back to police to fulfil their bond terms as investigations into the matter continue.

Arrest
The two were arrested at dfcu Bank Soroti branch on the minister’s order through the East Kyoga regional police commander, Mr Maxwell Ogwal , claiming that she had been attacked in the bank.

The police subsequently detained the two bank clients for five days.
“We had charged the suspects with insulting the modesty of the woman, but now that we have her statement, we shall forward the file to the resident state attorney for legal advice, it’s basing on that advice that we shall take on the case,” Mr Odongo said.

Mr Odongo said he could not disclose the minister’s statement claiming that it was in their control and she was also still under their investigation.
