Museveni to give Covid-19 address tonight as cases rise to 774

- Uganda has so far registered 770 COVID-19 cases as of Sunday June 21, 2020. A total of 578 people who previously tested positive for the virus have recovered and been discharged since March 21 when the first case was confirmed in the country, according to Dr Henry Mwebesa, the director general health services.
President Museveni is expected to give yet another Covid-19 address tonight (Monday) at 8pm, his spokesperson, Mr Don Wanyama, has said.
His address comes a day before the virus-induced lockdown comes to an end.
“President Museveni will address the country today, Monday, at 8pm, giving an update on the country's fight against COVID-19 and related issues,” Mr Wanyama tweeted.
On Monday June 22, Uganda confirmed more four cases of Covid-19 from 2,224 samples tested on June 21; raising the number to 774.
Two new cases were among 1,600 samples tested from Points of Entry while the other two were among 624 samples of alerts and contacts. All confirmed cases are Ugandans.
A total of 14 foreign truck drivers (9 Kenyans, 3 Tanzanians, 1 Burundian and 1 Rwandan) tested positive for COVID-19 and were handed over to their respective country of origin, according to Dr Henry Mwebesa, the director general health services.
Currently, there are 256 active cases in admission (143 are Ugandans while 113 are foreigners).
Uganda has registered a total of 631 COVID-19 recoveries and to-date, no COVID-19 related death has been recorded.
