Jinja-The executive committee of the ruling National Resistance Movement Jinja branch has suspended the party vice chairperson in the district over allegations of swindling Shs20 million which was part of the treatment package President Museveni donated to a tumor patient recently.

Police in Jinja have denied receiving a refund of the stolen Shs20m; part of Shs110 million that President Museveni had donated to a Jinja-based journalist, Ms Brenda Gimbo, for an operation in India

In a meeting that was chaired by the party chairperson in the district, Mr Nathan Nabeta, the committee resolved to suspend Mr Dhikusooka as they investigate his alleged misconduct.

The party secretary general in the district, Mr William Kato Kaziba told journalists that a committee of seven people has been instituted to investigate the case.

He said Mr Dhikusooka has been suspended over allegations of misappropriating money and theft and a report would be released after two weeks.

“We have tentatively suspended the operations of vice chairperson of NRM Jinja until proved not guilty by the committee,” Mr Kaziba said.

He said Mr Dhikusooka is also being investigated over Shs5 million he got from the party Secretary General Ms Kasule Lumumba but allegedly embezzled it.

The money, according to Mr Kaziba was meant to facilitate a party meeting in the district during last year’s presidential campaigns.

Daily Monitor has learnt that Mr Dhikusooka attended the meeting that decided his fate.

However, Mr Nabeta said they would seek professional services of police where necessary, to come up with a credible report.

He said police would be involved to confirm whether Mr Dhikusooka refunded the money to Ms Gimbo’s relatives as he claims.

Ms Gimbo, a Jinja-based journalist left for India at the weekend with Shs20 million less.
