Nekyon’s daughter dies in UK

  • Mr Aguma said arrangements are being made to repatriate the body to their ancestral home in Chegere Sub-county, Apac District.
  • Nekyon passed on last Friday and was buried on Saturday at his ancestral home in Apac District.

As Uganda mourns the demise of Adoko Nekyon, Lango Sub-region is shocked again by the news of the death of one of his daughters.

Sarah Apio died on Sunday in United Kingdom, according to Mr Richard Aguma, son-in-law to the late Nekyon.

Nyekon breathed his last on Friday afternoon at Nsambya Hospital where he was admitted for unspecified health complications

He said Apio had been suffering from intestinal cancer before she died in Kingston Hospital in Surrey, UK.

“She had intestinal cancer that was apparently diagnosed late. May her soul rest in eternal peace and may the good lord grant the Nekyon family and the friends the strength to go through this most difficult time with the losses,” Mr Aguma told Daily Monitor on Monday morning.

Apio was one of the twins fathered by the late Al Haji Akbar Adoko Akaki Nekyon. Her mother was Ms Florence Nekyon.

The late Nekyon received several honours in relation to his contributions to various aspects in Uganda that is; he was honoured by Parliament during the 50th Independence anniversary celebration as a life time achiever.

Mr Aguma said arrangements are being made to repatriate the body to their ancestral home in Chegere Sub-county, Apac District.
