Driver dies in road accident involving two police trucks

One person has been confirmed dead following a three-car crash at Kitega Trading Centre, Lugazi municipality in Buikwe District.
One of the two police trucks registration number UP 2372 that was heading to Kampala from Moroto District, had a head-on collision an oncoming Subaru UAV 906J, instantly killing the driver Jimmy Alori, 44.

Eye witnesses said the second police truck rammed into the wreckages of the first two accidents cars.
The Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson, Ms Hellen Butoto refuted reports that the Monday morning accident was caused by the police vehicle.

“The driver of the Subaru caused the accident but not police driver,” she said, adding that the deceased was heading to Jinja from Kampala.
According to Ms Butoto, no arrest was made following the accident.
She appealed to motorists to drive safely especially now that most roads are busy and many people are travelling to different parts of the country for Christmas festivities.
The body was taken to Kawolo Hospital mortuary for an autopsy before being handed over to his family.
