ARUA- Police on Friday re-arrested Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Mr Francis Zaake, moments after being granted bail by Arua Chief Magistrates Court.

Mr Zaake who is facing charges of escaping from lawful custody had secured a Shs50 million non-cash bail.

Ms Nesma Ocokoru, the Arua Hill Division chairperson and Mr Mathew Akile, a councillor in Arua Municipality, stood surety for the MP.

After completing the bail process in the court chambers, plain-clothed policemen re-arrested the MP as he walked out of the court premises.

It’s not clear where security operatives took the MP.

Mr Jimmy Madira, Mr Zaake’s lawyer said the arrest was a humiliation to such a responsible citizen.

"He should have been re-arrested from another place. Don't humiliate him like that. There should be respect for human beings in this country," he said.
