At least 27 people are nursing injuries following a bus accident along Bwera-Kasese road in western Uganda.
Police said the bus registration number UAK 881C owned by Link Bus Services overturned at Kikorongo junction in Kasese District on Thursday morning with 64 passengers on board.
The junction is a black spot, according to authorities.

Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr Vincent Twesige said the bus was travelling from Bwera in Kasese District to Kampala before the driver lost control and it overturned.

“The driver failed to brake on the slope and he lost control at the Bwera-Kasese-Mbarara road junction. He (driver) is on the run and we are looking for him,” he said before adding that the injured were rushed to Kagando and Kilembe hospitals for medical treatment.

The bus wreckage was towed to Kasese Police station.

“I have read on social media that some people are dead yet this is not true. No person is dead. I was there and I have been to the hospitals. Doctors are doing what they can to treat the patients,” Mr Twesige added.
