The Kanungu Deputy Resident District Commissioner Emmy Ngabirano on Tuesday evening said that they are intensifying police patrols in the border areas and the local leaders should also help the security personnel by reporting any foreign person in their areas and also name collaborators in case of any

“Its true many kidnap cases have been reported in this area and relatives of victims have been forced to pay a ransom before they are released.  Police patrols in the area have been put in place as one measure to curb the vice but the challenge remains the porous border line and the instability in the Democratic Republic of Congo.  We shall intensify border patrols to ensure our people are protected from such criminal acts,” Mr Ngabirano said.
