Two engineers drown at Isimba dam

Two engineers have drowned at Isimba dam in Kayunga District.

The deceased were employees of the DIVETEPH Uganda Limited that was contracted to clean and maintain the turbines.

The Ssezibwa Regional Police spokesperson Ms Hellen Butoto said the Wednesday morning incident happened when the two "expert engineers" were carrying out routine maintenance of the turbine.

"So far we have retrieved the body of one engineer and the search for the other is still ongoing. We are yet to identify the deceased," she said.

Isimba Hydro Power Project (HPP) which adds 183MWs to the national grid was commissioned by President Museveni on March 21, 2019.
