Two killed in separate attacks in Masaka, Luweero on Easter

LUWEERO/MASAKA. Police in Luweero District are investigating the murder of a 28-year-old man at Mawale village.
William Nyombi, a resident of Kasaala village in Makulubita Sub-county is suspected to have been way-laid by yet-to-be identified people who hacked him to death but abandoned the motorcycle he was riding on at the scene.
His body was recovered dumped by the roadside by residents who were returning from the Easter Sunday social evening at 11:30 pm on Sunday night.
Savana Region Police Spokesperson Mr Paul Kangave on Monday morning said the deceased was riding on a motorcycle returning home after attending the Easter Sunday social evening at Mawale Town when he was killed.
“The motive of the murder is not known because the suspected assailants did not take the motorcycle after the attack. The motorcycle was abandoned at the scene of crime. They used sharp objects to inflict deep bodily cuts on the head and neck,” he said.
In a related development, police in greater Masaka are investigating circumstances under which a renowned businessman was killed on Easter.
Lawrence Jagwe who runs a convenience store at Kirumba village, Katwe-Butego Division in Masaka Municipality was attacked and killed at 10pm at his work place by unknown assailants, according to the Southern police spokesman, SP Lameck Kigozi.
