Two suspected robbers shot dead in Mbale, one injured

According to Police Statistics, more than 135 cases of murder, 193 cases of robbery, 438 cases of burglaries, 1,708 cases of theft and 58 cases of narcotics/drug abuse were registered in the districts of Manafwa, Bududa, Sironko, Bulambuli, Mbale and Namisindwa between January and October 2019.

Two suspected thugs were shot dead in the wee hours of Saturday morning trying to steal mattresses at Tuuka’s Trading store on Cathedral Avenue in Mbale town.
Police said three thugs at around 1am armed with harmers, metals and other house breaking tools broke into Tuuka’s Trading store after cutting one of the doors to get access.

The Elgon region Police Spokesperson, Mr Robert Tukei said two private security guards attached to Jag Security Group Limited and Alpha Guard Service responded very first and shot the thugs dead.
“The thugs were three in number and guards shot one dead on spot. Another one was critically injured and rushed to Mbale regional referral hospital where he died from. The third one escaped with minor injuries, “said Mr Tukei.

Police said all nearby clinics and hospitals have been notified about any person who may be admitted with bullet wounds.
According to information on ground, the thugs used a sex worker to gathered intelligence before the raid.
Police said there are increasing cases of murder and robberies in the six districts of the Mt Elgon Sub-region.
