UNOC appoints Nabbanja as acting CEO

  • She holds a BSc (Chemistry, Geology) at Makerere University, MSC Petroleum Geoscience at Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine (London), Diploma in Petroleum Management and Operations among other academic qualifications.

Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) has appointed Ms Proscovia Nabbanja as the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO). She replaces Dr Josephine Wapakabulo who resigned in May this year.

“The Board has announced Ms Proscovia Nabbanja as our new acting Chief Executive officer (CEO),” Mr Ibrahim Kasita, the UNOC spokesperson told the Daily Monitor on Monday evening.

Ms Nabbanja is a geologist who has worked in the oil and gas industry for at least 19 years.
For the last three years, she has been the Chief Operating Officer in charge of the upstream sector at UNOC.

Ms Nabbanja formerly served as a Principal Geologist in the Petroleum Exploration & Production Department in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

She headed the Technical Division and was at the forefront of reviews of technical proposals especially field development plans and petroleum reservoir reports.

She headed the estimation and reporting of the oil resources and reserves in the country, field operations monitoring and management of petroleum data.

Ms Nabbanja has served in a number of inter-ministerial committees and also worked on a number of Donor funded programs such as Oil for Development and USAID.
She holds Bachelor of Science in Geology and Chemistry from Makerere University, Master of Science in Petroleum Geoscience, from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London, Master of Business Administration at Imperial College Business School and Certificate in International Petroleum, Oil and Gas Management from Institute for Petroleum Management in Texas, USA.
