Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has named Mr Alvin Mbugua as its new managing director. He replaces Mr Mark Ocitti, the first Ugandan manager in over a decade.

Mr Mbugua joined East African Breweries Limited in May 2013 as the Group Finance Controller before becoming the Finance and Strategy director in October 2015. He returns from Kenya Breweries Limited where he served the last 17 months as the Head of Sales.

“Uganda is not a new market for him, having served previously as the company’s finance director for almost four years. His strategic leadership and focus should sustain the unprecedented growth achieved under Mark’s successful tenure,” Mr Japheth Katto, UBL board chairman said.

Mr Ocitti, now credited for improving the company’s fortunes has steered the brewery’s operations since August 2016. He will be managing director of Tanzania’s Serengeti Breweries Limited this August.
Uganda Breweries Limited is a subsidiary of East African Breweries Limited, a beverage alcohol company in which Diageo is a majority shareholder.
