Uganda is set to host the Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) slated for 2024.

The annual conference brings together speakers and presiding officers of parliaments across the membership of the Commonwealth in a forum of their own to exchange information and express views on matters of common concern to legislative processes.

The decision for Uganda to host the Conference was reached on Monday during the ongoing CSPOC in Ottawa, Canada.

In attendance of the week-long Conference is a delegation from Uganda led by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
Among the issues discussed included the format of the said meetings; Standing Committee Rules; and venues for future forums.

It was agreed that the 2021 CSPOC would be held in Guernsey. The latter is an island in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy.
Australia will be the host in 2022 and in 2023, the Standing Committee meeting will be held in Trinidad and Tobago.
