KAMPALA- Proline will have to be extra special to interrupt KCCA’s crazy run in the Fufa Super Cup final this afternoon.

The two continental representatives, who just impressively progressed to the next round of the Caf Confederation Cup and Champions League respectively, come into this season curtain riser looking for picture-perfect tonic to the domestic league kick-off.

But in KCCA - the national champions; Stanbic Uganda Cup winners Proline meet a team that have made this Cup final almost their own, winning it five times in the last seven years, including the last three where they twice beat Vipers and Paidha Black Angels.

First appearance
For Proline, like they debuted on the continent, this is their maiden appearance here. But fresh from a 3-0 aggregate victory over Malawi’s Masters Security Services, coach Matia Lule’s Proline will fancy their chances against Mike Mutebi’s boys.

“We know KCCA are good at passing the ball,” admitted Lule, “But we also know that Proline’s tradition all these years we are a team that equally passes the ball.

“So tomorrow (today) we expect entertaining football from both teams. It will come down to who is prepared most and who takes their chances. We shall do our best to win the game.”

KCCA themselves, who got a glitch of a 2-0 defeat to Vipers in the Pilsner Super 8 final last Sunday at Wankulukuku, will look at their similar scoreline victory over African Stars of Namibia for a 4-3 aggregate progression and remain confident of dispatching Proline

Horses for courses
“We have prepared these players to be subjected to such routine,” said manager Mutebi when asked whether three matches in a space of six days would not take toll on his players.

“We are very well prepared and of course like a precursor for the league, I think we are playing a very good side.
“We are all in a brilliant mood. All of us are in the next round on the continent, and Proline are also playing good football. I believe it is going to be a good exhibition of football as a precursor to the league.”

Both KCCA and Proline are famed for emphasising youth development, and pride themselves in not ceding style for victory. The two must move in tandem.
To the above, Mutebi threw a jibe at Vipers, his last Sunday tormentors. “They came just to kick legs. But we are playing Proline who we know are coming to play football, we all have youngsters, almost age mates. It’s going to be a good advertisement for football.”

Youngsters Sadat Anaku, Allan Okello and company will lead KCCA’s quest for goals while Ivan Bogerere, Proline’s hat-trick hero on the continent, and skipper Noordin Bunjo should have Lugogo landlords something to think about.
