Uganda vs Cape Verde: Police bans political attires at Namboole Stadium

KAMPALA. Any material depicting one’s political affiliation has been banned by police at Namboole Stadium this Saturday when Uganda Cranes take on Cape Verde Islands in the penultimate Afcon 2019 qualifier.
The deputy RPC Kampala East Bashir Ssempala, while addressing the media yesterday at Lugogo, stressed that covert and overt security will be in place to arrest all offenders.
“We know that it is the determinant tie but you should be able to contain your happiness,” Ssempala revealed.
He added; “It has been a practice especially these days (people donning colours relating to their political parties) but please don’t come with those political t-shirts with colours at Namboole. We only expect jerseys.”

‘Arrive early’
He called on fans to arrive early for the match to avoid last minute stampede as seen in the 2016 final game against Comoros that had many fans with genuine tickets missing out. “We warn those fans intending to jump onto the pitch after the game that we are ready to arrest them immediately.” The traffic police commander in charge of Kampala metropolitan Norman Musinga released the traffic guideline to be followed on Saturday on the Jinja Highway route.
“There will be normal traffic flow along Wampewo-Kireka road, the Nothern Bypass and Kinnawataka-Jinja route but no vehicle will be allowed to go through the Sports View-Nambooole lane on Saturday,” he clarified.
