Vipers, KCCA hope to enter New Year on winning note

Kampala- Mike Mutebi’s KCCA have set the mark as the most dominant team domestically in 2018 - and that is expected to continue when they visit Bul at Njeru Technical Center this afternoon.

Their last StarTimes Uganda Premier League tie this year comes on a back of an intimidating performance that has seen the Lugogo side net 16 goals in the last four matches and conceding only three.

Three points below table leaders KCCA is Vipers, reeling from a Caf Champions league humbling ejection and desperate to make up ground in a seemingly close title race.

Vipers coach Javier Martinez faces a resurging Tooro United side that held them 1-1 at St Mary’s stadium last season.

The Mexican risks pressing the panic button if his offensive players Moses Waiswa, Dan Sserunkuma, Tito Okello, Noah Wafula don’t up their game against Wasswa Bbosa’s side.

Vipers have bossed this tie in the last 10 league encounters – winning eight and drawing twice – but the Venoms must rediscover their scoring touch if they are to close in on KCCA this afternoon.

Villa in West Nile
Villa’s revival under Douglas Bamwena will most likely continue at Green Light Stadium in Arua when they take on basement side Paidha Black Angels that have garnered a paltry four points from 12 matches.

Bamwena will once again look to nine goal hero Bashir Mutanda for goals just like it was the case in the 2-0 flattening of Express in their last league match at Namboole.

The record league champions hope to add to their 12 points tally and go 11th with victory this afternoon.

Villa’s defence will be without the services of Savio Kabugo who joined DR Congo side As Vita leaving Bamweyana with the options of Moses Kiggundu, Yusuf Mukisa and Shafik Bakaki.
