Art, fashion business to take centre stage at Uganda festival in US

Art and fashion business, among others will be the focus of Ugandans in North America when they meet for their annual festival and expo in Miami.

According to Mr James Sserumaga, the chairman of Uganda North America Association (UNAA) Causes, this year’s festival, to be held from September 3 to 7 at the Iconic Fontainebleau Miami beach is aimed at economic empowerment through its thematic nights and sideline activities.

“We have prepared so much in Miami. We have a business session where different entrepreneurs and investors will network as well as an entire weekend dedicated to fashion show to market unique and cultural outfit with a bias to marketing Ugandan art and culture as well as giving a platform to Ugandan fashion designers and models on such an international stage,” Mr Sserumaga said.

He further noted that the festival will feature an exquisite dinner cruise, two grand dinner galas amidst ‘world class entertainment from a star-studded line up of Ugandan and international artistes that will be unveiled soon.’

Mr Sserumaga said that the festival aims at economic empowerment and promotion of Ugandan arts and culture priding in partnerships with Ugandan businesses, foundation and franchises.

The association has an ongoing partnership with Miss Uganda Foundation which birthed the clean water campaign aimed at providing clean water to rural Ugandan communities.

Last year, the association opened a partnership with the Nnabagereka Development and as a result, one of the delegates to their 2019 festival was the Foundation’s Vice Chairman board, Dr Maria Nassali.
