I should have avoided that blind date afterall

A few years ago, a friend decided that I needed a hook up. I have never been good with such arrangements, since I like to check out the merchandise to decide if I am interested or not.
But, this was a girl who thought me and her friend would make the “perfect couple in the whole wide world”, considering that we were not dating.
She disregarded my protests, brushing them aside as if my opinion did not matter at all. When I asked to see pictures of the girl before I agreed to anything, she adamantly refused.
I must say it was pretty suspicious business, and I had my misgivings. But I reasoned that if it worked for other people, then maybe it could work for me. I reluctantly gave in, and she went off happily.
A day later, she called me and gave me the venue and date of my first meeting with my soon-to-be girlfriend.
When I asked how I would identify her, she quickly assured me that she would be there to do the introductions. I had no phone number, so all I had was faith.
On D-day, I was at the venue half an hour early. I chose a strategic point so I could make my escape if for some reason I needed to.
Just as my mind was wandering, they walked in. The girl was not bad looking at all.
They located me, and both sat down. Our mutual friend introduced my date as Tina, but when she came to introducing me, she told a totally different story.
She told Tina that I am the secret admirer she had been telling her about. I had known about her existence only three days ago. The shock on my face must have been very evident because Tina asked if I was okay.
But Angel, our mutual friend, knew exactly why I was reacting like that.
She was the biggest liar on earth. Before I could react, Angel hastily stood up and said she had to leave us two lovebirds.
Suddenly, I was left with a girl who I knew nothing about, and who was clearly expecting me to explain why I had been secretly admiring her.
If you have ever been in a situation where you have to lie to a girl, you will understand how I forged all sorts of things. Things I thought she might want to hear.
But, even to myself, I sounded like a conman. There was nothing real. Eventually, we went our separate ways, promising to “talk soon”. When I asked Angel why she did that to me, she airily told me that she was using me for a replacement.
Apparently, some other guy had been interested in Tina for a long time, but, Angel had only discovered that the guy was a “common thug”, so as not to disappoint her friend, she set me up. So much for friendship. Oh, me and Tina we never saw each other again.
