What you need to know:

Looking for free Wi-Fi and a great place to unwind with a drink and hold a conversation while in the city centre? Well, look no further than Menu 24 Cafe.

Urbane-chic is the key word here. With its accentuated lights and tan colours, the Menu Café 24 is an attractive destination for a lunch or dinner date, or even a late-night tryst. Complete with two seating areas, the café offers a tranquil environment that is rare in Kampala central business district.
You can either decide to sit upstairs above the kitchen or opt for the more spacious and comfortable lounge at the centre of the arcade. Whichever side you choose, the service will be great.
The upper section is more private and safe from the prying eyes of the public. But the lower section is serene too, offering free Wi-Fi and a giant screen, for those who care to watch TV.
When I visited the place, I was awed by the setting. The executive seats are also not only comfortable but spacious. The marble floor and flowers around the area create a good ambience.
The waitresses are also quick to attend to you to ensure that you feel comfortable.

The menu
Elijah Tindyebwa, the manager, explains that although the seven-month-old restaurant is not operating 24 hours as the name suggests, there are plans to make this a reality. He also adds that the menu at the café is all round.
For breakfast they serve, African tea, pastries such as cakes, cookies, muffins and different types of coffee.
Their prices range from Shs7,000 to Shs10,000. For lunch, they serve multi-cuisines as well as local dishes.
Tindyebwa explains that they have specials on different days of the week. This makes it an ideal place to pop in when you want to taste something different.

The prices at the café are pocket friendly and their food ranges from Shs10,000 to Shs30,000 depending on what you choose. They also have a comprehensive selection of desserts which delivers the final, but delicious, blow.
There are various ice cream flavours with a scoop going at Shs4,000. Although the ice cream was tempting, I settled for a freshly baked muffin which was also served in good time.

Plus and minus
The upper seating section tends to heat up especially in the early afternoon. Getting parking space may be tricky since the café doesn’t have enough parking space. However, the prices, food and decor will help you look beyond the minor hiccups.
