Every home owner knows how painful it is to pay high energy bills at the end of the month. Using energy saving appliances has many financial benefits as it helps to reduce your utility bills especially on electricity. They also help to conserve the environment by making use of the waste material. Most households in Uganda use cooking stoves for cooking at homes, but there are good energy saving and environmental friendly cooking stoves that can do the work very efficiently.

Solar home system
This system comes well equipped with batteries, inverters, regulators and solar panels. All components are protected in the box with a lock. It’s portable and very easy to install. It operates lights, TV, fridge and many other home appliances. The complete system goes for Shs8m from Kirchner Solar group located at Nalubwama Arcade Floor 1, Room 1.

Enviro fit wood stove
This uses wood for lighting and it produces limited smoke. It’s made from metal inside and it’s insulated. it retains heat for a long time. It uses 2-3 pieces of wood to cook a meal. A stove costs Shs45,000 from smart home located in Muyenga Kironde road.

Charcoal stove
This is made out of metal. The liner is made out of clay, sodust and pumis and mica. It does not heat up. The stoves are sold according to sizes which are numbered. Number one (small size) costs Shs15,000, Number two costs Shs20,000. They can be got from leading supermarkets like Nakumatt, game.
