KAMPALA. Christopher Robert Laidlaw, a former New Zealand rugger and currently a politician once said, “Beer and rugby are more or less synonymous,” in simple terms meaning the two could lie on the same page any day. It looks like there was no better way to welcome newly appointed Rugby Cranes coach Johannes Beukes than taking him out for rugby on hot Saturday afternoon. URU chairman Andrew Owor and former Rugby Cranes coach Peter Magona gave Beukes company with few drinks. The big boys must have been ordering their drinks in pairs as they shared views while watching the Nile Special Premiership rubber between Kobs and Mongers at Legends. Welcome to Uganda coach Beukes, beer and rugby are ‘partners in crimes’.
