Six UCU students win scholarships in Netherlands

Six students of Uganda Christian University (UCU) from the school of business and science have been awarded scholarships at Hanze University of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands.

“I am very excited and greatly honoured to have been selected for this great opportunity from many applicants. I embrace it with greatest humility as I join a privileged league of experts and scholars from all over the world,” said Mr Musa Ssemakala, one of the students who were selected for the scholarship.

One of his colleagues, Ms Mercy Millie Namikka said: “This is a one in a lifetime opportunity and I intend to make the most out of it. I am very optimistic that my time in The Netherlands will enrich me with topnotch knowledge and skills to face the future.”

Mr Vicent Kisenyi, the Dean of School of Business said the collaboration shifts to one of the key pillars of the university which is to enhance collaboration.

"Today at Hanze University we are looking at enhancing students experience and this exposure that students are going for will greatly help them to even be able to come back and contribute to our country in the different professions," Mr.Kisenyi said.

While flagging off the students on Monday, the UCU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi said they will spend six months in the Netherlands and are expected to set off in February this year.

"They will be taking credit courses that will contribute towards the academic degree," Prof Mushengyezi said.

He said students are selected from a wide range of programmes including human resource, business, social work and other disciplines.

"We congratulate our students for going out as ambassadors on this important exchange,"  he said.
